FBF // The 1975
Let’s take it back to the week of May 17th, 2014…
I had been hearing advertisements on a local radio station about a free music festival that was taking place that weekend. Being the concert junkie that I am, I just had to go! Plus it was free, so it was pretty much a no-brainer. The line-up included a bunch of bands that I have never heard of or had maybe heard once. I arrived at the park where the festival was being held just in time to see a band called The 1975. Other than their catchy song “Chocolate” that frequents my radio, I knew nothing of this band. In the first few seconds of their set, I learned that they were from England and that they enjoy wearing all black (something we have in common). I should have just known I would’ve fallen in love right then due to the fact that I am obsessed with anything and everything that is British.
After hearing the first few songs, I was hooked. Their bad boy persona and 1980’s sound is why many dub their album the lost John Hughes movie soundtrack. I mean who doesn’t love the Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, or Pretty in Pink?
As I left the show, I knew I had a new favorite band. I immediately created a Spotify playlist with all of their songs. Can I just say how much I love Spotify? Anyways, their album is amazing and worth a listen! I am going to list my favorites songs below. I can’t wait to go to another one of their shows in the future as I am sure they will blow me away once again.
She Way Out
Have you been to Hollister lately?
Last week as me and my sister were strolling through our local mall, she suggested we walk in to Hollister. Now, I used to love Hollister circa 2006-2010 with their logo tees and beachy ambiance. It was the perfect wardrobe for any Floridian teenager. However, I have not bought anything from them in many years and was shocked when I walked in to this past hotspot just the other day. To my surprise, Hollister had completely revamped their collection, which included the introduction of the color black and bohemian styles. Black! Never have I ever seen the color black being used in their clothing pieces. As a girl with an affinity for this particular color and style, I knew I had to get my hands on some of these pieces.
The sales they were running perked my interest even further. I got both the shirt and the pants for $50!
Of course I had to take some pictures with my cute dogs!
